The Leica APO-Summicron-SL 50mm f/2 ASPH. is a bright normal length prime that provides excellent optical performance for L-mount full frame mirrorless cameras. The bright f/2 aperture enables working in dimmer conditions while at the same time strikes a balance between speed and overall size and weight. Optically, three aspherical elements are incorporated to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations for sharper and more accurate rendering. In addition, an apochromatic design uses anomalous partial dispersion glass to suppress chromatic aberrations throughout the aperture range for improved colour accuracy and clarity.

A Dual Synchro Drive AF Motor complements the optics by achieving fast and quiet autofocus performance to benefit both stills and video-recording. In addition, application of multi-layer coatings suppress surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and colour fidelity. The lens weather-sealed design as well as water-repellent AquaDura coating support operation in inclement weather. This lens comes supplied with a clip-on lens cap, rear lens cap, lens hood, and a lens bag.
