D35mm f/2 MACRO APO-ULTRON Lens:  Nikon Z (DX Format)

Macro Lens

The MACRO APO-ULTRON D35mm F2 Z Mount is a large-aperture standard macro lens for APS-C size (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras with Nikon Z mount. The lens uses the latest optical system with three abnormal partial-dispersion glass elements out of a six-group, nine-element configuration. The apochromatic design provides natural colour reproduction without colour blurring, and the lens has a maximum aperture of F2, an exceptionally large aperture for a macro lens, yet the lens is compact in size.

Its optical design is optimized APS-C size (Nikon DX-format) mirrorless cameras for which the Nikon Z mount has been adopted. This lens has an APS-C size (Nikon DX-format) image circle, and can be used by setting the camera's imaging range to DX-format when using it on a full-frame camera (Nikon FX-format body) by manually.

This lens is equipped with electronic contacts and realizes communications between the lens and the body. In addition to Exif information and in-body image stabilization (3 axes), by combining with a body compatible with communications and the latest firmware*1, three types of focusing support functions ( [1] focusing by colour changing of the focus point frame [2] peaking function focusing and [3] focusing with the enlargement button) are supported.

Adopting a full-metal helicoid unit processed and adjusted with high precision and high-quality grease that produces an appropriate torque, focusing with a smooth operation feeling is realized. It enables fine focus adjustment.

A 10-element aperture is used to make the opening formed by the diaphragm blades closer to a circular shape. Out-of-focus areas are rendered naturally, and point light sources are rendered with a soft, rounded bokeh effect.

The minimum focusing distance is 0.163 m. For focusing, a front-focusing method is employed in which the front four groups of six elements are moved back and forth. Compared with the method in which the entire optical system is extended, the front focus system enables shorter extension while ensuring high image quality in all ranges.

To accommodate today's high-resolution digital sensors, axial chromatic aberration and lateral chromatic aberration have both been thoroughly suppressed.
