The Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II VM is an interchangeable wide-angle prime lens designed for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras, updated to enhance ease of use on digital cameras. As with its predecessor, this bright manual focus lens sports a compact look and features a 10-blade aperture diaphragm that produces a soft and beautiful bokeh at maximum aperture. The lightweight lens also features 8 elements in 6 groups, an f/1.4 to f/16 aperture range and a 63 ° angle of view on a full frame camera. The optical design is where this updated lens departs from its predecessor, receiving a modification that improves focus accuracy when live view is used for focusing. The spherical aberrations of the original model have been intentionally retained as a feature. However, one of the consequential effects of the spherical aberrations is a shift in focus position when aperture is stopped down for image capture after focusing with live view at maximum aperture. The optical tune-up in this latest model almost completely eliminates this focusing issue. This Voigtlander lens is offered with two types of coating: single coating for classical tones and multi-coating for neutral colour rendering. The lens featured here is for the single coating option. The LH-6 lens hood is separately available as an accessory for the 35 f1.4 II VM.
