The Nokton 21mm f/1.4 Aspherical VM from Voigtlander is an ultra-wide prime lens covering a dynamic perspective afforded by a 90.3° angle, and it features a bayonet-type VM mount that is optimised for the imaging sensors of VM-mount digital cameras. Its fast and bright f/1.4 maximum aperture suits working in low-light conditions and permits greater control over depth of field. Optically, the lens features a 13-elements-in-11-groups construction, where incorporation of two aspherical elements aids in minimising spherical aberrations and distortions for improved sharpness and accurate rendering. In addition, three partial dispersion elements are featured to limit colour fringing and chromatic aberrations to achieve improved clarity and colour fidelity. The employment of a floating elements mechanism maintains excellent imaging quality throughout the entire focusing range. The lens is characterised by a manual focus design that allows precise coupling with the cameras optical rangefinder, from infinity down to possibly 70cm, depending on the camera. It features a helicoid, enabling the lens to focus down to a minimum focusing distance of 50cm. A 12-blade aperture diaphragm contributes to a beautiful bokeh while the included stylish bayonet-type rectangular hood is removable and effectively shields stray light from entering the lens. The lens also comes supplied with a front cap and a rear cap.
