The Nokton 50mm f/1.2 ASPH from Voigtlander is an updated version of a classic, offering a standard-length manual focus prime lens for full frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 75mm equivalent focal length. Contacts transfer all Exif data between the camera and lens in order to permit full use of camera functions, including focus magnification, image stabilisation, and lens corrections. Featuring a bright maximum aperture of f/1.2, it is ideal for use in low-light conditions and for working with shallow depth of field. This is complimented by a 12-blade diaphragm that works to create a smooth out-of-focus bokeh effect. Optically, the lens uses a pair of aspherical elements and one partial dispersion element to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for enhanced sharpness and colour. It offers a minimum focusing distance of 45 cm, and a Selective Aperture Control System that allows the manual aperture ring to be de-clicked for smooth, silent exposure adjustment, particularly beneficial for video recording. The aperture ring can also be configured to use traditional 1/3-stop clicks if desired.
