A versatile telephoto zoom, the Canon EF-mount SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 Lens from Tamron features a bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture, alongside a refined optical design and sleek design. Designed for use with full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, it can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 112-320mm equivalent focal length range. Optically One XLD (extra-low dispersion) and five LD (low dispersion) elements work to control chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for sharpness and clarity, while both BBAR and eBAND coatings reduce flare and ghosting. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm ensures pleasing out of focus bokeh areas. This is complimented by a Vibration Compensation (VC) system that helps to minimise the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops for sharper handheld shooting. Three VC modes are available: Mode 1 for general use with stablised capture and viewfinder image, Mode 2 for panning movements, and Mode 3 for image stabilisation only during capture, without stabilising the viewfinder image. A ring-type Ultrasonic Silent Drive autofocus motor completes the design, offering impressive performance and full-time manual focus override for fine-tuned adjustments. The lens is also dust and moisture-resistant with a flourine coating on the front lens element, for peace of mind when working in changeable conditions, and includes a rotating, removable tripod food with an Arca-type compatible base. It is compatible with optional TAP-in Console for fine-tuning select focusing adjustments and for updating lens firmware.
