The Leica M to Sony E Autofocus Adapter from Techart is designed to allow you to use your manual Leica M lens with autofocus on Sony E mount cameras, making it possible not only to expand your range of lens options, but change your entire user experience. With the Techart adapter in place it becomes possible to use your favourite Leica lenses for snap shots, motion pictures and candid images. A printed circuit board allows your camera to measure the focus and communicate with the motor, which will then move the lens closer or further away from the camera sensor to reach the focal point. The maximum z-shift is 4.5mm which is sufficient to cover the focusing distance for most Leica M lenses. This adapter supports AF-S and AF-C, the continuous autofocusing mode, making it possible to shoot moving objects with ease. In addition to adding autofocus, it is possible to connect the adapter via Bluetooth 4.0 and Techarts mobile app to program lens data, up to 10 sets of which can be stored, and update the firmware. This allows for full EXIF data to be recorded when an image is taken and also enables complete compatibility with Sonys 5-axis in-body image stabilisation. Using this adapter will also improve the close focusing ability of your lens. It serves the same function as the helicoid or close-focus adapters in the market, where the minimum focus distance of the lens is shortened. Designed to match the compact and lightweight design of Leica M lenses, the Techart weighs just 133g, but features a motor powerful enough to drive a lens system as heavy as 700g. Performance is optimal with 50mm lenses and wider, whereas telephoto optics will require coarse focusing with the lens before using the adapter for fine tuning via autofocus. Please note that the Techart is only compatible with Sony models since the A7II. It is not recommended for use with CDAF-only cameras such as the Sony NEX, A6000, Sony A7, Sony A7R, Sony A7S and Sony A7SII.
