The Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G lens is a versatile ultra-wide angle prime lens designed for full-frame E-mount cameras, with the flexbility of pairing with APS-C format cameras to provide an equivalent focal length of 30mm. This lens features a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture which benefits working in dimmer condition and creating images with shallow depth of field. Incorporation of two advanced aspherical (AA) elements into the optical design reduces spherical aberrations and distortion while three extra-low dispersion elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations, rendering the overall image sharper, clearer and more accurate in colour. In addition, the Nano AR Coating has been applied to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting, which improves contrast and colour rendering in strong lighting conditions.
The 20 mm f/1.8 FE lens utilises a Dual XD Linear motor for autofocus performance that is fast, quiet and accurate, as well as contributes to a more natural and intuitive manual focus control. The AF/MF switch located on the lens barrel provides for tactile control when switching between auto and manual focus. Customisable focus hold buttons in the physical design enable rapid access to select settings when recomposing.
