With the incorporation of additional professional video features into the capable EOS R5, the high performance hybrid Canon EOS R5 C is the first Cinema EOS System that can capture high quality 45MP images as well as provide internal 8K 60p recording. Sharing in the same newly developed 45MP full-frame CMOS Sensor and a fine-tuned DIGIC X image processor as the EOS R5, the EOS R5 C when switched into 'video' mode, provides 8K video support that enables a highly flexible workflow, which includes 4K cropping from 8K footage without any quality loss, recording 8K videos in MP4 format, as well as allowing for lighter proxy video recording in 8K for more efficient editing and previewing. In addition, the inclusion of additional video features such as a timecode terminal for easy synchronization when shooting with multiple cameras and other interfaces, a wider selection of recording formating options, as well as an expanded video interface enhance video performance for an improved user experience; when in 'photo' mode, the EOS R5 C maintains similar menus as on the EOS R5 camera and provides a wide sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200 that can be further expanded to ISO 102400 to suit working in varied lighting conditions, as well as quick continuous shooting up to 12fps with a mechanical shutter and silent 20 fps with an electronic shutter that caters for working with moving subjects.
The EOS R5 C also offers 4K recording up to 120 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit, HDMI RAW output, Canon Log HLG/PQ support, unlimited recording time, dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which features 1053 selectable focusing points that cover about 100% of the image for wide and even coverage that assist with Eye, Face, and Head Detection AF for photographing people, as well as assist in tracking the whole body, face, or eyes of cats, dogs, or birds with Animal AF. There is even a still-image vehicle detection that supports accurate tracking of cars and motorcycles. A newly developed internal cooling fan dramatically improves the heat dissipation and airflow to achieve long hours of extended recording, even in high-quality 8K 60p video. Integrated dual memory card slots pave the way for flexible storage on CPexpress Type B and SD UHS-II memory cards with faster read and write speeds to better support the high resolution recording and fast continuous shooting. It also affords simultaneous recording in different file formats, resolutions, colour sampling to support a more efficient workflow.
Beyond the performance attributes, this camera design features a generously high-resolution 5.76m-dot 0.5" OLED electronic viewfinder for markedly clear and bright eye-level viewing and a rear 3.2" 2.1m-dot LCD touchscreen with a vari-angle design that benefits working with front facing recording, as well as from high and low angles. Thirteen assignable buttons offers operational flexibility to accommodate individual workflow while its durable weather-sealed body affords working in inclement conditions. Built-in 5 GHz and 2.4GHZ Wi-Fi bands offer fast file transferring, along with Bluetooth that supports image file transfer, and remote camera control via the Canon Camera Connect App.
Compatible with an optional Canon VR RF 5.2mm L Dual Fisheye lens, a stereoscopic RF mount fisheye lens designed for VR movie shooting, the R5 C can shoot high-resolution VR images and video. A lithium-ion battery, charger, camera cover, shoulder strap, cable protector and interface cable are supplied with the EOS R5 C.
