Lee Filters are compatible with both film and digital photography. With a hard transition between the sky and foreground, generally hard grads are best suited to any image with a horizon line or hard transition between the sky and foreground, where as soft grads are best used on images of woodland, mist or interiors as they provide a smooth transition from clear at one end of the filter, to light stopping at the other. Now you also have the choice of medium grads and very hard grads. Very hard grads offer a precise separation between areas of your image. They are ideal when working with very defined horizon lines such as seascapes. This is a 1.2 ND Very Hard Grad to provide 4 stops of light reduction. All Lee NDs are meticulously hand-dyed and each filter represents up to an hour of skilled work, as they are dipped in and out of baths of dye and results continuously monitored. You can stack any number of NDs together with other filters, to customize your Lee filter setup for any lighting situation. Click here to view and post to our Lee in Focus interactive photo boards
