The MagicBall Mini from Novoflex is an innovative ballhead that gives you access to 85% of a sphere, making it impressively quick to position. With a weight capacity of 4.99 kg it is capable of supporting an SLR with up to a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens and flash attached. Saving the size, weight and cost of quick release mechanisms the MagicBalls moving screw with thumbwheel is a fast way of connecting your camera to the head. There is no vertical notch necessary. The surface is coated with a scratch-resistant, smooth shell which reduces vibration transmission. There is no independent panning capacity, however this can be solved by using the Novoflex Universal Panorama Plate. The Mini was designed for the traveller who needs the lightest kit possible and therefore does not include tension control like the larger models. Photographers who will be tracking moving subjects with large telephoto lenses will be better served by the larger MagicBall 50.
