The Nikon Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S is a versatile wide-angle to telephoto zoom with an advanced optical design. Designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras, its constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range. Optically, a combination of three extra-low (ED) dispersion elements, one aspherical ED element, and three aspherical elements help to control a various aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range for sharp, clear imagery with improved colour rendering. In addition, ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats, have been applied to help suppress flare, ghosting, and surface reflections, thus improving contrast and colour fidelity. Suiting both stills and video needs, the zoom features a multi-focus system with two synchronised separate AF drive units that impressively fast, accurate, and silent autofocus performance.
The employment of stepping motors by this system also permits full-time manual focus override while an internal focusing design is employed to maintain the overall length of the lens as well as promote faster focusing speeds. A dedicated manual focus ring at the rear of the lens offers tactile and precise control over the focus positions. If adjustments are required, an assignable L-Fn button works in conjunction with camera-based Fn buttons to allow making exposure and settings changes from the lens.
