The Nikon Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S is a S-line telephoto-length macro prime lens that will enable Z-Mount Cameras the versatility to capture from portraits down to close-ups with its life-size 1:1 maximum magnification and a 29 cm minimum focus distance. Thanks to the bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, this lens enables working in dimmer condition as well as provides improved shallow depth of field control. The isolation of subjects is enhanced by the beautiful boken and background blur enabled by the rounded nine-blade diaphragm. Optically, three extra-low dispersion elements and aspherical lens elements suppress a range of aberrations for clarity and colour accuracy as well as improved sharpness when using wide aperture settings. A combination of Nano Crystal Coating and ARNEO antireflection coating reduces ghosting and flare caused by incident light entering the lens diagonally and vertically, thus achieving impressively clear capture of images in backlit scenes. In addition, a fluorine coating is applied to reduce dirt, water, and smudges from sticking to the surface of the lens.
Complementing the optics ane benefitting both still and video applications, a Dual-Motor Multi-Focus STM system with manual focus override provides for quick and responsive autofocus, manual focus for increased control over focusing, and reduction of chromatic aberration and colour fringing common among macro lenses. A VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilisation reduces the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops to benefit handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. A focus limiter switch is integrated into the design to provide even more speed and accuracy for close focussing while the lightweight of the lens provides for ease and comfort during transportation and handling. Within the lens barrel, an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism provides markedly accurate electronic aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting. On the lens barrel, there is a handy L-Fn button for customisation and a customisable control ring for adjusting aperture, exposure compensation, and ISO. The lens comes supplied with a front and rear lens caps, a lens hood, and a soft lens case.
