The Canon Speedlite EL-1 is an E-TTL / E-TTL II-compatible flash that can be used on camera. Characterised by power, connectivity, and reliability, this flash has the flexibility to suit a variety of lighting needs. Designed with a xenon flashtube, the flash offers greater exposure stability, a powerful guide number of 197 at ISO 100 and a versatile exposure control ranging from full 1/1 power down to 1/8192 power. Also, the employment of the LP-EL rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack helps to promote shorter recycle times of around 0.9 second and afford about 335 flashes per charge. It also aid in improving thermal management and the flashs active cooling system. The EL-1 supports EL-series RT flashes fully via a built-in radio trigger and receiver. Up to 15 RT-series receiver Speedlites can be triggered to produce light freely even when the EL-1 is not attached to the camera. Additionally, EL-1 features Second-Curtain Sync that further provides more creative possibilities. With a dust and water-resistance equivalent to that of the EOS-1D series camera bodies, this rugged flash can be operated in more inclement conditions. User interface is improved with the incorporation of an updated joystick design, display, and control layout. A tunable LED modelling lamp helps to user to previsualise the lighting. In addition, the flash head can swivel 180° left and right fully, bounce upward 120°, and includes a built-in wide panel. The flash comes supplied with a lithium-ion battery pack, a charger, a bounce adapter, a colour filter set, a stand, and a soft case.
