Part of the Sigmas Art line, this Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN is a wide-angle to portrait length zoom designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless systems to achieve impressive optical performance and support creative and artistic applications. As a standard zoom with a 24-70mm focal length range, it can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 36-105mm equivalent focal length range. Its bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture suit working in available lighting while affording greater control over depth of field. For improved clarity, sharpness, and accurate colour and rendering, the 19-elements-in-11-groups optical design includes six F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements, two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements, and three aspherical elements to reduce a variety of abberations, distortion, and colour fringing. In addition, the lens elements have been applied with both Super Multi-layer and Nano Porous Coatings to minimise lens flare and ghosting for images characterised by rich contrast and colour neutrality. The optical attributes are complemented by a stepping AF motor which achieves quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance; additionally, an optimised AF algorithm aids in producing a smoother focusing. Working with close-up subjects is possible with maximum magnification of 1:2.9 and a minimum focusing distance of 18 cm at the wide-angle end of the zoom range. A built-in programmable AF-L button is available for adjusting various shooting settings whilst the dedicated AF/MF switch enables a quick switch between the focus types. A zoom lock switch is also integrated for preventing the barrel from being accidentally extended when not in use. The mount is rubber sealed to render it dust-and splash-resistant for operation in inclement weather, and mounting accuracy as well as rigidity are improved thanks to the brass construction of the bayonet. A 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing boken quality. This high performance lens comes with front and rear lens caps, a lens hood and a case.
