The 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art lens from Sigma offers a refined addition to their range of ultra-wide lenses, producing images with minimal distortion and high resolution. It is available here with a Canon EF mount for use with full-frame digital cameras, however it can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 19.2-38.4mm equivalent focal length. As part of Sigmas Art series it ensures impressive image quality through the use of FLD and aspherical elements, including an 80mm large-diameter moulded glasses aspherical lens, that minimises aberrations and distortion. This optical design also helps to control distortion and limit vignetting. A Super Multi-Layer coating further suppresses flare and ghosting. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces pleasing out of focus bokeh areas. A Hyper Sonic AF motor uses an optimised algorithm for speed and accuracy, and full-time manual focus override is possible simply by rotating the focus ring at any time. Constructed using lightweight and durable thermally-stable composite along with traditional metals, it is suited to use in a wide range of temperature variations. The lens is also dust and splash-proof with rubber sealing to protect the brass bayonet mount, and a water and oil-repellent coating has been applied to front and rear elements. It is also fully compatible with Sigmas USB Dock.
