Kitted together here are the Canon EOS 200D Mark II and the Canon 18-55 f/4-5.6 IS STM lens.
The sleek and lightweight Canon EOS 200D Mark II is a capable cropped DSLR body that can achieve high resolution stills and video recording. This is thanks to the 24.1MP APS-C-format CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 image processor pair, and a wide ISO 100-25600 sensitivity range, which supports working in a variety of lighting condition. Besides UHD 4K video recording, the processor also enables up to 5 fps continuous shooting as well as a 4K time-lapse movie mode for creative depictions of subjects over time. Customisable interval settings between 1 second and 60 minutes are available for between 2 to 3600 consecutive frames. No matter the number of individual frames, the time-lapse mode can then automatically compile them into a 4K or Full HD video file for seamless playback and story-telling. The sensor's design incorporates a Dual Pixel CMOS AF (autofocus) that utilises a 9-point phase-detection autofocus for fast, accurate and smooth focusing performance whether during shooting stills in live view or video recording. A cross-type center point enhances accuracy and speed of focusing. Eye Detection AF can be employed to track and pioritise focus on a recognised subject's eyes. For enhancing video recording, Movie Servo AF mode provides smooth and natural focusing when focus changes from on one subject to another, or from points of different distances within the scene, as well as the option to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and Face Tracking priority; Furthermore, the integrated Movie Digital IS (image stabilisation) steadies recordings by minimising the camera shake across five axes for even smoother footage.
The compact body design features a large 3.0" 1.04-dot touchscreen LCD with a vari-angle design to enable easier working from high and low angles, intuitive menu navigation and setting controls, live view monitoring and footage reviewing. The touchscreen is of course integral to the function of the Touch AF system which enables intuitive focus change by simply touching relevant elements within the scene on the touchscreen. The EOS 200D Mark II also features an optical pentamirror viewfinder for bright and clear eye-level shooting. With an external microphone jack incorporated into the body design, greater audio control over the recorded sound is available. In addition, the built-in Wi-Fi permits easy wireless sharing of photos and movies to a linked mobile devices, while the integrated Bluetooth lends itself for a no-fuss connection with a mobile device for fast image sharing as well as remote control capabilities.
The included LP-E17 rechargable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 350 shots per charge when working in live view and a much greater 1630 shots per charge when the viewfinder is used instead. A charger, body cap, eye cap, and neck strap are supplied as well.
The accompanying 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens from Canon is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for use on Canon APS-C size sensors. The 18-55mm focal length is equivalent to 28.8-88mm in 35mm terms. The inclusion of a high precision aspheric lens reduce chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range.
The STM stepping motor supports Canon's EOS Movie Servo AF feature for smooth and near-silent continuous autofocusing when recording video. An Optical Image Stabiliser minimises the appearance of camera shake, and optimised lens coatings ensure superb colour reproductions whilst limiting ghosting and flare. A seven-blade aperture design produces pleasing background blur.
