The high optical density factor, in particular, enables this scanner to rival the quality of many drum scanners to ensure scanned images exhibits an almost perfect colour tone and reproduction of the original negative or transparency, thus providing users with the ability to create high quality print ready negative and transparency scans. This handy restoration tool also includes Grain Reduction and Backlight Correction.

Truly, including the aforementioned features, all of Perfection V850 Pro - hardware, software, and scanning technologies -- culminates in a scanner that operates efficiently for professional results. The scanner features high reflection mirror that ensures improvements in scanning speed and anti-reflection optical coatings on the CCD cover glass to reduce distortion and ghosting for a cleaner output. Perfection V850 Pro comes supplied with two sets of redesigned plastic film holders for all sizes of film, each with an anti-Newton Ring plate that will prevent film sagging in the mount as well as achieve sharper images with the film held flat. Importantly, having two sets of holders boosts efficiency by permitting preparation while simultaneously scanning during batch scanning. Epson's ReadyScan LED technology also supports high productivity by providing an almost instant warm-up time of less than one second - that is literally scanning in an instant. This technology utilises low power consumption, and the extremely low scanning temperature generated by the LED light source means the most delicate of originals are safe during scanning.

Of note amongst the myriad of impressive features possessed by Perfection V850 Pro is the advanced Dual Lens System, which incorporates two separate lenses that are each designed to optimise the scanning results in specific modes. The intelligent scanner automatically adjusts the lens to be used based on the scan mode selected.
