Part of the Sigma Art Line whose goal is to deliver remarkable optical performance that supports artistic and creative applications, this Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens is a portrait length prime lens designed for full frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras. On a APS-C model, it provides an equivalent focal length of 127.5mm. This 85mm lens features a bright and fast constant f/1.4 maximum aperture that provides increased control over depth of field for shallow depth of field effects, as well as benefits working in challenging lighting condition. A combination of five special low dispersion (SLD) glass elements, one aspherical element, and four high refractive index glass elements reduce a range of aberrations to achieve improved clarity and colour accuracy, as well as increased sharpness and rendering accuracy. In addition, a Super Multi-Layer Coating is applied to enhance the image quality through suppression of lens flare and ghosting, thus promoting better contrast and colour fidelity in harsh lighting conditions.

The optics is complemented by an integrated stepping motor that maintains a lightweight and compact form factor while delivering a fast and quiet autofocus performance that benefits both sills and video applications. An optimised AF algorithim further enhance focusing by producing smoother performance. Featuring a refined exterior that promotes intuitive and tactile control, the lens features a dedicated focus mode switch, an AFL button, and a manual aperture ring, which can be de-clicked or locked.  In addition, the built-in autofocus-lock (AFL) button can be flexibly assigned more functions to increase the range of available operations on the lens. A rounded eleven-blade diaphragm affords a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. For increased robustness and working in harsh environmental conditions, the lens is constructed to be weather-resistant with a brass bayonet to improve mounting accuracy and rigidity. Users can update the lens's firmware and fine-tune its characteristics via the seperately available Sigma UD-11 USB Dock.

The lens comes supplied with a lens cap, rear cap, lens hood and a lens case.
