Mirrorless Digital Camera
The CL is a mirrorless digital camera from Leica, designed to offer impressive imaging capabilities in a compact, easy-to-use physical body. Featuring a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and Maestro II image processor, the CL is capable of producing high-resolution stills with native sensitivities ranging from ISO 100-50000 and a top continuous shooting rate of 10 fps. The sensor and processor also make it possible to record UHD 4K video at 30 fps, Full HD at 60 fps and HD at 30 fps. Focus peaking is available for easier focusing.
The mechanical shutter is capable of speeds up to 1/8000 sec, and an electronic shutter function provides totally silent operation with shutter speeds up to 1/25000 sec. This is complimented by an upgraded 49-point contrast-detect AF system that ensure fast and accurate performance in a variety of lighting and shooting conditions.
Compose your images using the 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder with 0.74x magnification for bright and clear eye-level viewing or use the rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD that enables the use of touch and gesture controls for simple operation. The top plate also features an additional LCD for quick settings review and two dials and customisable buttons are available for more direct adjustment of your frequently used settings.
Integrated IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi is also available, allowing you to wirelessly connect iOS and Android devices to the CL for sharing photos and movies to smartphones or tablets. The free Leica App facilitates sharing imagery between the camera and device, and the app also enables a remote function for wirelessly adjusting the camera's shutter speed, aperture, and for releasing the shutter. The app can also be used as a remote electronic viewfinder that makes it easier to compose self-portraits or group shots, or when working from difficult shooting angles.
The CL uses the Leica mirrorless L-Bayonet Mount, making it possible to connect both full-frame SL-series and APS-C TL-series lenses, which benefit from electronic communication for fast autofocus, electronic aperture control, and optical image stabilisation. The L mount also accepts a variety of adapters, such as the M-Adapter L which provides access to the entire M-mount lens library.
The camera is finished with anodised auminum alloy top and bottom covers, and the front and rear body shells are crafted from magnesium alloy for a durable, lightweight result. Two dials with centre buttons on the top plate offer easy settings adjustment and a four-way rear directional pad can be used for intuitive selecting of focus points.
