The Nikon Nikkor Z 28-75mm f/2.8 lens is a lightweight and compact wide-angle to short telephoto zoom for Nikon full frame mirrorless cameras. Its versatile focal range is complimented by a moderately bright maximum aperture of f/2.8 to suit working in low light situations and provide for better depth of field control when working with selective focus effects, thus rendering the lens suitable for a variety of shooting situations. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm helps to provide a pleasing out of focus quality, benefitting the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techiques. This compact and sleek lens features an optical design that includes a combination of one Super ED element, one extra-low dispersion element, and three aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for sharp, clearer, and more colour-accurate images.

The optics is complimented by a stepping motor for quick and quiet autofocus performance that benefits both stills and video application. Additionally, an internal focusing design maintains the overall length of the lens during use by moving only the internal lens groups during focusing as well as promote faster focusing speeds. The lens is also designed to suppress focus breathing for video use and maintain a consistent field of view when refocusing. A minimum focus distance of 19.12cm enables working with close-up subjects.

Weighing at 30% less than the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens and measuring only 12.19cm in length, this lens is versatility in a compact and lightweight form. Its programmable control, which is set to manual focus adjustment, can be set to control aperture or exposure. Featuring an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel, the lens is capable of providing highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when employing auto exposure during continuous shooting. The sealed lens is dust and water-resistant while its front element has an antifouling coating to resist dirt, fingerprints, and smudges and ease cleaning.
