Wide-Normal Prime for Z-Mount Cameras

The Nikon Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 prime lens provides a wide to normal field of view and a bright f/2 maximum aperture in a a compact and portable form, rendering it suitable for your everyday shooting. While it is designed for full frame Nikon Z mirrorless cameras, this lens can also be used with cropped models, where it provides a 60mm equivalent focal length. The bright aperture aids shooting in challenging lighting and also increases control over depth of field when isolating subjects using depth of field. Optically, the lens employs two aspherical elements to help limit the spherical aberrations and distortion to achieve high sharpness and accurate rendering. An application of Super Integrated Coating helps to suppress flare and ghosting to improve constrast and colour fidelity when working in harsh lighting conditions.

A stepping motor complements the optics with very smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that benefits both stills and video applications. An internal focusing design, which maintains the overall length of the lens during use, promotes faster focusing speed as well as improve stability. Full-time manual focus override is possible. The programmable Control Ring is set, by default, to adjust manual focus. However, it also be utilised to control aperture or exposure compensation.Thanks to a specialised electromagnetic aperture mechanism, the lens affords greater exposure control stability that is beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality.
