Sigma
fp + 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary
Mirrorless Digital Camera Body & Normal Prime Lens Kit
Kitted together here is a compact and lightweight pair consisting of the Sigma fp and the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary prime lens.
Sigma fp, an extremely compact mirrorless digital camera body, delivers high-resolution functionality for stills and video thanks to a 24.6 effective Megapixels full-frame Bayer sensor, a 14-bit colour depth, a base sensitivity of ISO 100-25600 that can expanded to ISO 6-102400, an electronic image stabilisation, and full-time electronic shutter. The fp can provide a maximum resolution for Raw and JPEG files of 6000 x 4000 and a shooting rate of 18 fps while its HDR shooting takes advantage of an electronic shutter to capture multiple pictures of different exposures at once: 3 frames for still photography and 2 frames for video. Its recording capabilities permits UHD 4K recording at up to 30p and Full HD recording at up to 120p, and supports 12-bit CinemaDNG external recording for raw video data. Sigma's "Teal and Orange Mode" provides for video content fine-tuning by creating high contrast between orange colours, which are found in human skin tones, and teal colours, which are complements for the orange. Via a future firmware update for further enhancing the versatility for video shooters is the "Director's Viewfinder" function, which can be used to simulate different angles of view and how an image looks in various cinema cameras. The incorporation of "FIll Light" functions enables adjustments of brightness in the shadow regions of an image in a range between -5 to +5, thus improving control in producing an image with great details. A switch on top of the camera allows easy switching between the available still and video modes.
The focus system of the fp employs contrast detection and a 49-point selection mode for AF measurement distance, face detection, eye detection, and focus peaking. Shots can be composed and reviewed on its 3.15" 2.1m-dot LCD touchscreen and saved internally to a UHS-II SDXC card slot. The light weight of the fp is maintained by die-cast aluminium cover on the front and the back that also ensures robustness and heat dissipation. A combination of a large-sized heat sink between the LCD and camera body and a heat dissipation coating to the outer suface helps the fp to operate for longer hours or in higher temperatures without overheating while a 42-point seal renders it dust- and splash-proof for operation in a wide variety of environments. Additional external peripherals can be connected to the fp via its USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port and a micro-HDMI port. The versatile fp features a L-mount to enable pairing with various Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma lenses.
The accompanying Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN lens is a normal-length prime lens designed for full frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras. On a APS-C model, it provides an equivalent focal length of 68mm. This 45mm lens features a bright and fast constant f/2.8 maximum aperture that is suited for working in challenging lighting condition as well as providing improved depth of field control. Its optical design suppresses spherical aberrations to achieve large soft, rounded bokeh in the background while enhancing the three dimensional impression of the subject. Combined with a light weight of 215g, compact dimensions of 64.8 x 46.2 mm, and a 24cm minimum focus distance, this lens is ideal for highlighting subjects in a variety of photography situations that range from travel snap shots to tabletop close-ups.
The optics is complemented by a stepping AF motor that delivers precise, high-speed and quiet autofocus performance which benefits both stills and video applications. Full-time manual control is available. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm affords a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality. For working in harsh environmental conditions and increased robustness, rubber sealing is added in the mount design to render the lens dust- and splash resistant, and the bayonet mount is constructed from brass to improve mounting accuracy and rigidity. In addition, a lens hood is supplied to protect the front element and prevent stray light from causing flare.
