The AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G lens from Nikon is a fast prime lens with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture. Designed for use with Nikon FX-format DSLR cameras, it is also compatible with DX-format cameras where it will provide a 35mm equivalent focal length of 87mm.
The optical design uses two aspherical elements, a Nano Crystal Coating and Nikon's Super Integrated Coating for virtually no coma flaring or light falloff. This allows the lens to excel in low-light and nighttime situations by maintaining overall image sharpness and even lighting at all apertures, while also offers exciting capabilities for everyday photography and HD video recording.
This is complimented by a rounded 9-blade diaphragm to produce smooth out-of-focus areas. It also features a Silent Wave Motor to ensure fast and quiet autofocusing, with a Manual/Auto mode for fast switching between auto and manual focus. Simply turn the focusing ring on the lens to switch from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time. This makes it possible to seamlessly switch to fine manual focusing while looking through the viewfinder.
