The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm f/4.5 TCI.25X IS PRO lens from Olympus is an impressive super telephoto zoom lens designed for use with Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, featuring a range and reach of a 300-800mm equivalent focal length range. Via the integrated 1.25x teleconverter, this focal range can be further expanded to an effective 1000mm equivalent focal length. The constant f/4.5 maximum aperture of the lens, which is slightly reduced to f/5.6 when the teleconverter is in use, affords consistent illumination throughout the zoom range.
Optically advanced, the lens incorporates one EDA (extra-low dispersion aspherical) element, four Super ED (extra-low dispersion) elements, two ED elements, two HR (high-refractive index). and one HD element; The combination of these elements affords marked sharpness, clarity, and accurate rendering by minimising various aberrations, distortion and colour fringing. For improving contrast, a Z Coating Nano has been applied to markedly reduce lens flare and ghosting. A circular nine-blade diaphragm produces a pleasing out of focus 'bokeh' quality.An apt optical image stabilisation (IS) system compliments the optics by compensating for camera shake for sharper handheld shooting and shooting in difficult conditions. Additionally, 5-axis Sync IS is supported to reap the benefits of camera-based sensor-shift IS for even more robust stabilisation. A Movie & Stills Compatible (MSC) autofocus system provides quick, accurate, and quiet focusing performance, benefitting both stills and video applications. An incorporation of a focus limiter switch provides three focal ranges to further quicken focusing, depending on the anticipated subject-to-camera range. Equipped with a fixed rotating tripod collar that improves balance and support when working from a tripod, the lens's magnesium and carbon fiber construction means this telephoto zoom also suitably light enough for handheld use. It also features a weather-sealed construction against dust, moisture, and freezing temperatures provides peace of mind when working in changeable weather conditions, and has a heat-resistant finish. A fluorine coating on the front elements provides for resistance to smudging and fingerprints as well as easier cleaning.
