GH5 II + 12-35mm f/2.8 II Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS Lens
Mirrorless Micro Four Third Camera & Wide-angle to Portrait-length Zoom Lens Kit
The Panasonic GH5 II mirrorless micro four thirds camera features updated video capabilities as well as refined design. Via a combination of a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor with a newly developed AR Coating and an evolved Venus Engine Imaging Processor, it provides professional quality imaging performance for shooters requiring versatile stills and video capabilities in a single compact camera. Thanks to the updates, ghosting flare in backlit scenes are further suppressed, dynamic range increases by 25%, and colour gradation and reproduction are also improved. This camera can record DCI and UHD 4K videos with the full sensor area and can output 10-bit 4:2:0 internally up to 60p, or 4:2:2 at 30p.
The GH5 II's unlimited video recording enables less downtime during film while the pre-installed V-Log L supports multi-camera recording by enabling easy matching of colour tones with footage recorded by other VariCam-series cameras. For more advanced users, multiple picture styles provide two Cinelike gamma presets that enable warm skin tones or delicate nuances of light and shadow to be reproduced without colour grading: CINELIKE V2, which priorises dynamic range, and CINELIKE D2, which priorises contrast. These presets, along with the added L. Monochrome S and L. Classic Neo modes, can be used for anamorphic video recording.
The camera also features updated built-in 5-axis image stabilisation, which works with compatible Lumix O.I.S lenses to activate Dual I.S. 2 for shake correction that can compensate for up to 6.5 shutter speed stops. This is complimented by a high speed and high precision 225 AF areas Advanced DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) autofocus system that incorporates deep learning technology to detect eye and face of different subjects, including humans and animals, almost twice as fast as the GH5. This contrast-detection type focus method benefits both still and video recording modes, as well as subject tracking applications where subject colour, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock-onto the moving subjects and ensure precise focus. In addition, the Depth-from-Defocus technology calculates spatial information in lightning fast speed, thus enabling instant and accurate capture of shots. The GH5 II also offers 6K PHOTO which provides 18MP stills at 30 fps and 4K PHOTO which provides 8MP stills at 30 or 60 fps.
Splashproof, dustproof and freezeproof to -10°C, the GH5 II is durably housed inside an magnesium alloy body with die-cast front and rear frames, and features extensive sealing at each joint, dial, and button. You can compose and review your images using either the 0.76x OLED viewfinder or 3" 1.84m-dot rear TCT LCD touchscreen that has a free-angle, and tilt-and swivel design. For fast image transfer and saving, there are two UHS-II SD card slots which provides settings such as Relay Recording to automatically switch cards when one is full; Backup Recording, which recording the same data to both cards simultaneously; and Allocation Recording, which lets you save certain files to each card for easier organisation. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also included for wireless image sharing and remote camera control from linked smartphones and tablets. High-quality livestreaming requiring only the camera and smart phone is enabled with the use of an easy to use Lumix Sync app; Livestreaming via a router is also possible using the Lumix Network Setting Software.
The camera comes supplied with a DMW-BLK22 battery that provides about 410 shots per charge when using the rear monitor or electronic viewfinder, depending on the lens. The bundled USB 3.1 Type-C cable can be used to quickly charge the battery or supply the camera with continuous power while shooting photos and videos. Other accessories included are body cap, cable holder and an embroidered shoulder strap.
The accompanying Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens from Panasonic is a versatile zoom lens designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras, where it provides a versatile wide-angle to portrait-length 24-70mm equivalent focal length range. A constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 ensures consistent performance throughout the zoom range, and makes the lens well-suited to working in low light conditions and with shallow depth of field techniques.
The optical design uses four aspherical, one ultra extra-low dispersion, and one high refractive index glass element to control aberrations and distortions to produce sharp, clear imagery. A Nano Surface Coating has also been applied to reduce ghosting and flare for more accurate colour and detail, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out of focus bokeh quality.
This is complimented by the inclusion of POWER Optical Image Stabilisation to minimise the appearance of camera shake when working handheld. The O.I.S. system is also compatible with Dual I.S. for enhanced stabilisation performance.
The lens is finished with a durable all-metal housing that is dust, splash, and freezeproof, making it ready to withstand the demands of professional use.
